Dale W. Mahorney Sr., 68, 1002 E. Main St., retired Crawfordsville businessman and former city councilman and street commissioner, died Friday night in Culver Hospital after a long illness. A resident here for the last 38 years, he was engaged in the heating and plumbing contracting business. He was elected to the council in 1967 while serving on that body filling the unexpired term of the late Lee Cord, who had resigned to become Unition Township assessor. He resigned from the council when named street commissioner effective July 1, 1969 to succeed Frank Rose. Mr. Mahorney resigned the post last Sept. 15. He was active in Republican politics and served eight years as precinct election board inspector. Survivors include his wife, Pauline; a son, Dale W. Mahorney Jr., a LaPorte pharmacist; two daughters, Mrs. Rosemary Childress of Linden and Mrs. Pat Parrish of Crawfordsville; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, J. Fred Mahorney of Crawfordsville. He was a member of the First Methodist Church here, Danville (Ill.) Masonic Lodge and Plumbers Union Local 240. Mr. Mahorney was born Aug. 27, 1902 at Danville, Ill., a son of E. A. and Christine Laker Mahorney. He came to Crawfordsville in 1933. He and Mrs. Mahorney celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary last Sept. 27. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home, with Rev. Frank Little officiating and burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. --typed by Walt W

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. (CNS) – Dale W. Mahorney Sr., 68, of Crawfordsville, died Friday evening (June 4, 1971) at Culver Hospital. Mr. Mahorney was a former Crawfordsville city councilman and streets commissioner and had been active in Republican politics. He had been in the heating and plumbing business. He was born in Danville, Ill., on Aug. 27, 1902, the son of E. A. and Christine Laker Mahorney. He moved from Danville to Crawfordsville in 1933. He is survived by his widow, Pauline; a brother, J. Fred; a son and two daughters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Hunt and Son Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. – jlr
